SKW Nature Products Acquires Bunge Foods Ingredients Systems Division

The Nature Products Division of SKW Trostberg AG, (Trostberg, Germany), through its subsidiary, SKW Biosystems, Inc., (Langhorne, PA), has acquired the Ingredients Systems Division (ISD) of Bunge Foods Corp. (Atlanta, GA). ISD produces and sells fruit preparations, flavors and stabilizing systems for the North American food industry.

"ISD is ideally suited for the Flavors & Fruit Preparations as well as the Texturant Systems Business Units of the Nature Products Division," states Dr. Michael Witzel, the responsible Member of SKW's Board of Management. As a result of the acquisition, the Flavors & Fruit Preparations Business Unit advances to a leading position in North America. Additionally, the Texturant Systems will create a stronger North American position in food stabilizers by including dairy stabilizers and systems into SKW's current product portfolio supplied to the Diary Industry.

Bunge Foods Corporation, a part of Bunge International, the Brazilian Food & Agricultural Group, is selling the Ingredient Systems Division to focus on its traditional fertilizer and agricultural business.

The SKW Group, which belongs to VIAG, AG, Munich, is an international specialty chemicals company consisting of three divisions: Nature Products, Chemicals, and Construction Chemicals. The Nature Products Division comprises of five Business Units: Gelatin & Specialties, Texturant Systems, Flavors & Fruit Preparations, Cultures & Enzymes and Salt products.
