Sherwood Brands Purchases Manufacturing Facility

Sherwood Brands Inc. (Rockville, MD), a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of confectionery products, has purchased a second manufacturing facility near its Chase City, VA, plant.

"This plant expansion is a sign of our confidence in Sherwood's continued growth," said Uziel Frydman, president and CEO. "Our strategy is to lever Sherwood's brand-building, manufacturing and distribution capabilities with acquisitions of complementary products and companies."

Sherwood Brands products include Cows, a line of soft and chewy toffees and dairy butter and cream hard candies; Ruger wafers, a line of wafer cookies in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavors; Elana, Belgian chocolate bars; and Demitasse, a line of tea biscuits in a variety of flavors. The company also manufacturers hard candies, jelly beans and lollipops.
