SCT Updates Process & CPG Manufacturing Software

SCT (Malvern, PA), a supplier of enterprise software, has released version 2.6 of its ADAGE Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. The release provides industry-specific enhancements for process manufacturing enterprises in the food & beverage, chemical and consumer packaged goods markets.

ADAGE is an object-based, fully graphical ERP solution focused on the process manufacturing and distribution industries. ADAGE employs a series of dynamic workflows composed of industry-specific objects and business rules that model key business processes across the supply chain.

ADAGE customers were closely involved in the design and pre-release testing of version 2.6, including Spraylat Corp., a manufacturer of specialty coatings based in Mt. Vernon, NY. "We are very pleased with the level of interaction SCT encourages with customers, and our participation has proven to be very productive," said Michael Borner, VP of administration for Spraylat. "When we selected ADAGE, we knew that SCT was focused on customers' process-industry requirements, and our experience has confirmed that."

A number of industry-specific enhancements were introduced in ADAGE 2.6, that reflect the fundamentals and best practices of the process manufacturing industries.

For processors who must price individual product packs by weight or fill quantity, the ability to capture and track the actual weight of a product pack is essential. For example, the disassembly of chicken or beef will yield cuts that have slightly different weights. The actual or "catch" weight of each product pack is captured and lot-tracked through all ADAGE processes. Similarly, products of variable density such as specialty chemicals can also be measured by actual weight or fill quantity.

Additional functionality in the enhancement provides support for highly flexible packaging configurations required by consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers, who pack multiple products into a rainbow pallet, club pack or display kit. ADAGE 2.6 manages this requirement by offering a "nesting" of existing product configurations to meet customer specifications.

Adding enhanced support for key requirements of CPG and other price-competitive industries, version 2.6 is said to strengthen ADAGE's Pricing & Promotions functionality. As a supplement to price agreements, v2.6 enables menu-based pricing through the dynamic building of price components and adjustments. Promotional rebate functionality has been enhanced to provide matching of payments and accruals supporting performance-based or co-operative marketing programs.

Version 2.6 introduces the ADAGE Enterprise Interface Architecture (EIA), as part of SCT's application programming interface (API) strategy to provide seamless integration between enterprise applications. In addition to providing run-time interface to external applications, EIA supports ADAGE's enabling technologies such as enhanced electronic commerce functionality in version 2.6.

Through its ADAGE ERP and FYGIR Supply Chain Planning products, SCT now offers a comprehensive, single-vendor Process Supply Chain Management (P/SCM) solution focused only on the process manufacturing and distribution industries.
