Ralcorp Holdings to Purchase Cookie Maker

Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. has announced that its subsidiary, Bremner, Inc., signed a definitive agreement to purchase Sugar Kake Cookie Inc., a privately held cookie manufacturer located in Tonawanda, NY.

Ralcorp, a leading manufacturer of private label ready-to-eat cereals and crackers and cookies, as well as producer of Beech-Nut branded baby food, will acquire Sugar Kake Cookie Inc. thereby increasing Ralcorp's cookie production capacity.

Sugar Kake primarily manufactures and sells a full range of sandwich creme cookies, as well as both fig bars and shortbread cookies

"The majority of our Bremner operation is focused on private label crackers, the acquisition of Sugar Kake increases our presence on the cookie side of the operation," said Joe Micheletto, chief executive officer and president of Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. "Sugar Kake's primary focus on sandwich cremes is important as this is the largest portion of the private label cookie segment, which obviously fits well with our current business mix," added Micheletto.
