Pest Management Training Videos Available to Food Processors
Copesan Services, Inc., developers of the Signature Care Food Processing Pest Management Program, is now offering food processors interactive video training modules of the program. Signature Care pest management program was developed exclusively for food processors. The training videos, which feature visual demonstrations and real-life examples, provide a more effective way to train employees in issues related to food safety and pest management.
The two training modules currently available feature Integrated Pest Management and Key Pests of the Food Industry. The IPM module details the twelve interdependent components of the IPM puzzle. The Key Pest module covers the basic identification, biology, habits and control options of rodents, insects and birds.
In the IPM process, pests are identified, action thresholds are considered, all possible control options are evaluated and selected controls such as biological, chemical, cultural and mechanical, are implemented. These options are based on effectiveness, environmental impact, site characteristics, worker/public health and safety and economics.
Each interactive video module is packaged in a three-ring binder and contains a 28 minute VHS video tape, tips for effective training, an outline for trainee note taking, a copy of the audio script for reference, a post-test for assessing participants' comprehension and a list of suggested reference materials.
