New Leadership at Canada Bread

The board of directors of Canada Bread Company has appointed Roger Dickhout president and CEO. He replaces Dr. David H. Lees.

A partner at McKinsey & Company, Dickhout has served as the firm's leader of its corporate renewal practice and has guided a number of major change efforts.

"Roger will be our agent of change, and we are thrilled to add his vision and strategic leadership to our team," said Michael McCain, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Foods Inc.

Maple Leaf Foods, who owns 68% of Canada Bread, has identified its bakery division as a high potential core business unit. The company has aggressive plans to grow and develop the sector and make a significant impact on the bread products marketplace.

Canada Bread, Canada's only national bakery, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of fresh and frozen value-added, flour-based products in Canada, producing brands such as Dempster's, Olivieri and Tenderflake. The company also distributes products throughout the United States.

Maple Leaf Foods is Canada's largest food processing company with operations across Canada, in the United States, Europe and Asia.
