George Coin founded Nancy's Pies in 1986. George's background includes managing a family wholesale bakery that made private label white bread and buns for Eagle Supermarkets.

George has worked in this business for over 31 years. Nancy's primary product for the first few years was a 4" snack pie. In 1988, George began using a sugar substitute in the pies and sales increased.

The next product added to the line was 8" 'No Sugar Added' pies. Since 1994, Nancy's has introduced a full line of No Sugar Added and Sugar Free baked desserts, including cookies, creme cakes, muffins, coffee cakes, and decorated cakes. Sales are primarily to supermarket in-store bakeries nationwide. The company moved from a 15,500 square foot building in northeast Rock Island, IL to the 50,000 square foot plant in January 1998.

Today, Nancy's Pies, Inc. employs 85 full-time workers and bakes No Sugar Added and Sugar Free bakery products ten shifts per week.
