Krispy Kreme Set to Open Union City Store

The first Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store in Northern California, located in Union City is set to open Tuesday, March 21. The new 4,000-sqft doughnut factory will contain one of Krispy Kreme's custom-designed doughnut machines capable of producing more than 200 dozen doughnuts an hour.

The store will have the well-known "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign, which lights up whenever the machine is producing the Original Glazed Yeast-Raised Doughnuts, signaling to customers that they are available right off the conveyor. Besides the Original Glazed doughnut, the store will sell 14 other varieties of doughnuts, including several kinds of cake, filled and powdered doughnuts. Like other Krispy Kremes, the Union City store will feature a 24-hour drive-though window.

This is the first of three Northern California stores planned to open in the year 2000. The others are scheduled to open in Mountain View and Sacramento.
