Interbake Attains ISO 9001 Registration and Class A Certification in MRPII

Interbake Dairy Ingredients', a Richmond,VA-based company has attained ISO 9001 registration and Class A certification in Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) for both its manufacturing and demand management processes. Interbake received ISO 9001 certification for each of its business segments, corporate support functions and bakery locations.

QMI, an international certification body, has approved Interbake's management system for the design, manufacturer and distribution of cookies, crackers, ice cream wafers and baked ingredients as well as the design, manufacture and installation of dairy equipment technology. Interbake adopted ISO 9001 as a means of providing continuous assurance of quality and customer satisfaction.

The registration process involves a comprehensive, independent third party audit of all design, manufacturing and distribution processes against international standards. Interbake is the first baker in the U.S. and one of a small number of food processing companies in North America to be ISO 9001 registered. At the core of Interbake's system is a comprehensive use of statistical process control on each of its manufacturing lines.

Interbake, a subsidiary of George Weston Limited, is an industrial baker that produces ingredients and contracted products using cookie and cracker technology in North America.
