Gold Medal Bakery Uses Innovative Power System Designed By SEi Companies
One of America's largest regional bakeries upgrades its production capabilities
BOSTON, MA – SEi Companies, one of the leading providers of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services in the New England area has announced that Gold Medal Bakery, the leading provider of private-label and branded bakery products in New England will for the first time, begin operating their central production facility in Fall River, MA using a unique SEi designed and built power system.
The Gold Medal Bakery manufacturing process had been experiencing small interruptions in the delivery of power resulting in a loss of production time, raw materials and financial resources. SEi worked closely with Gold Medal's production staff to solve this problem and create design solutions to increase production reliability. The whole project had to be completed while the manufacturing processes of Gold Medal remained operational. To implement these solutions, SEi devised a framework within which the designed system could be gradually phased in to Gold Medal's manufacturing process without an interruption to the production schedule.
This new configuration integrates the utility power systems, emergency generators and uninterruptible power sources to support two different production facilities on Gold Medal's Fall River campus. Most importantly, this new system allows Gold Medal to operate completely independent of utility power while providing full power for the entire production facility.

"Gold Medal will now be able to operate in a more cost effective manner as they will no longer experience the loss of raw materials or the loss of production time resulting from a loss of power."
"Previously, when we experienced unscheduled power failures in our processing plant, the shutdowns would often last several hours requiring our production staff to manually restart the production process, clearing and then restarting all of the production lines from the very beginning," said Roland LeComte, CEO and President of Gold Medal Bakery. "Now the power systems designed by SEi make Gold Medal completely self-sufficient in terms of our power needs while also making us capable of operating in any kind of adverse weather conditions when demand for our products is extremely high."
With this new power system, SEi has enabled Gold Medal to have a distinct competitive advantage over other bakeries in the region as Gold Medal is now less susceptible to sudden losses of power.
