Global Baking Council Launches To Connect Commercial Baking Associations Worldwide

The American Bakers Association (ABA) and International Association of Plant Bakers (AIBI) are proud to announce a new initiative, the Global Baking Council, a joint initiative established to connect and strengthen trade associations from across the world advocating for the commercial baking industry.

Founded collaboratively by ABA and AIBI, the Global Baking Council brings together participating associations to support a stronger, more connected commercial baking sector through structured dialogue, coordinated engagement, and timely insights on key regulatory and legislative issues as well as consumer trends shaping the international baking sector. The inaugural meeting of the Global Baking Council, including a formal signing ceremony, will take place at the AIBI Congress on May 28, 2026.

“The Global Baking Council is designed to help commercial baking associations strengthen their global view and respond more effectively to the challenges and opportunities shaping the baking sector,” said Eric Dell, President and CEO of ABA. “By fostering open communication and information sharing, we can break down barriers to understanding how changing regulatory and consumer landscapes are affecting the industry globally and help support our respective member companies.”

“The commercial baking sector operates within an increasingly interconnected global environment,” said Didier Jans, Secretary General of AIBI. “Through this joint initiative with ABA and our international association partners, we are establishing a platform for sustained cooperation, shared expertise, and coordinated engagement. Together, we can amplify the collective voice of commercial bakers and strengthen our ability to respond to global challenges and opportunities.”

Through participation in the Global Baking Council, associations receive:

  • Updates on key regulatory and legislative issues as well as consumer trends shaping the international baking sector
  • Issue-focused briefings and updates through virtual and in-person meetings
  • Shared expertise and best practices from peer organizations across markets
  • Future potential engagement opportunities with international public organizations
  • Stronger association capacity to provide member companies with globally informed insights and context
