Frutarom

Established in 1933, Frutarom is one of the country's earliest industrial enterprises and a forerunner of Israel's chemical industry.

Initially, with the help of outstanding chemist and first president of Israel, Professor Chaim Weizmann, the company aimed to combine the cultivation of aromatic plants and flowers with the extraction of essential oils, concretes and absolutes.

Over the years, the company gradually switched its activities over the fields of citrus specialties and derivatives as well as chemical syntheses of a number of important special aroma chemicals and a range of natural aroma chemicals. The availability of in-house raw materials has enabled Frutarom to become a well known manufacturer of food flavours, seasoning and fragrances compounds. Sunscreen agents constitute an additional line in Frutarom's manufacturing programme.

Frutarom's commitment to quality is based on its long standing experience combined with superior raw materials and rigid quality control. Our quality management system is approved for ISO 9002. Continuous R&D, creativity and technological expertise are the benchmarks which keep Frutarom at the forefront of international market developments. Frutarom's main activities are market oriented and its worldwide distribution network and production facilities successfully serve customers throughout the world.

Frutarom established a manufacturing operation in the United Kingdom in the early nineties. A large investment in new manufacturing and technical facilities and a strong local team of flavourists and applications technologists have grown sales significantly.

Over the years Frutarom has become a subsidiary of the New-York based ICC Industries, a major international manufacturer and trader of chemicals, plastics and pharmaceuticals.

Rounding out the Frutarom picture are its most recent acquisitions. The first of these is the Meer Corporation, one of the largest plants in the USA for the production and marketing of botanical extracts, stabilizers, emulsifiers, and oleoresins as well as tailored compounds. The second complementary acquisition is Botanicare, a leading producer of standarized plant extracts for the health supplements industry and nutraceuticals for the food industry. Additional sales offices were opened in 1995 in northern France and in Russia.
