FMC Buys Northfield Freezing Systems from York

York International Corporation (York, PA) has sold its Northfield Freezing Systems Group to FMC Corp. The two companies also are committed to an ongoing strategic alliance by which York will provide industrial refrigeration systems and HVAC equipment to FMC.

Northfield Freezing Systems, a $60 million operation, is a high supplier to the food processing industry. Northfield's key products include LTS spiral freezers, coolers, proofers and dehydrators. The business employs 240 people and operates production facilities in Northfield, MN; Smithville, OH; Norwich, England; and Auckland, New Zealand.

"This complementary acquisition offers FMC FoodTech the opportunity to enhance our position as the technology leader in the development of freezing systems," said Charles Cannon, FMC VP, and GM of FMC FoodTech. "We also expect to increase the scale and level of service to customers of both companies, and create a stronger operational base in North America."

FMC FoodTech, a business unit of FMC Corp, is a supplier of food processing, preservation, freezing, handling and packaging systems and services to major food segments worldwide. FMC FoodTech provides integration solutions to customers within the meat, seafood, poultry, fruits, vegetables and convenience foods markets.
